Big Cypress One Day Safari

This tour departs at 8:00 am from your school arriving approximately at 9:30 am to the Ah Tha Thi Kee Seminole Museum. Here we will spend 1 hour, viewing a short film on Seminole history and a narrated tour through the gallery. Then we board the bus for a 5 minute drive to Billie Swamp Safari.

Upon arrival we will receive our activity itinerary.

Lunch is served in a spacious ranch style restaurant with indoor an outdoor seating. There is a variety of set menu choices available for your group.

Based on your budget, Gatortrax can also cater a complete cold lunch for your group.

The highlight of this tour is a one hour swamp buggy ride through the swamps and prairies of the Big Cypress. A swamp buggy is a rebuilt truck with large tires, safety railings and a canvas top. Many points of interest will be discussed about the plants, animals, ecology and Native Americans.

Two Educational Seminars are included in the one day tour. They each take approximately 45 minutes. You may choose from aboriginal tools, a critter show, or bead work. During bead work each participant will bead a souvenir necklace to keep.

A very interesting reptile and venomous snake demonstration will be presented to the group. Here the students will get a close up look at the rattlesnakes and a water moccasin.

This action packed tour will boost the children's' awareness of the Everglades and our Eco-systems. All this fun will be experienced in the heart of the Seminole Big Cypress Reservation.

You will depart to your school at approximately 4:00 pm after visiting the gift shop or walking the nature trail.
